Our Mission
“At Voices Unchained Inc., our mission is to empower teen mothers and survivors of trauma, specifically in the areas of childhood sexual abuse and growing up with parents struggling with addiction. Through education, counseling, and community-driven initiatives, we provide a supportive and transformative environment. Our goal is to break the cycles of trauma, silence, and isolation, creating a space where every voice is heard, every story matters, and everyone has the opportunity to heal and thrive.”

Our Vision
“To create a world where survivors of childhood trauma and teen mothers find solace, support, and the resources needed to thrive. We envision a community where every voice, previously silenced by trauma, is heard and celebrated.”
Board of Directors

Magda Delgado
Founder
Magda Delgado is a survivor, advocate, and the driving force behind Voices Unchained Inc.
Born in Praia, Cape Verde, Magda immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 4, where she faced significant challenges but persevered with unwavering strength and determination.
“At the tender age of 11, Magda experienced trauma that would shape her journey and ignite her passion for empowering others. Despite facing considerable challenges, including navigating the complexities of early motherhood at the age of 17 while pursuing her education, Magda remained steadfast in her commitment to overcoming adversity and making a difference in the lives of others.”
With a relentless spirit, Magda spent 14 years in the medical field, serving as an MRI Technologist in her final role before answering a higher calling in the financial education space. Her journey reflects a commitment to overcoming obstacles and making a profound impact on the lives of others.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Magda is a devoted wife and mother to three boys. She is also the author of the children’s book “My Name is King,” which advocates the power of positive affirmations for young children.
Magda has always had a passion for helping others and has used her platform to empower women and address issues affecting young women and girls through her poetry, speaking engagements, blog posts, and social media platforms.
Inspired by her own journey and the recognition of a void in support for individuals facing similar challenges, Magda founded Voices Unchained Inc. Her mission is to provide a safe haven and supportive community for survivors and teen mothers, offering resources, guidance, and understanding to help them heal, thrive, and reclaim their voices.

Erica Maddox
Board Director of Community Outreach and Program Development
Erica—affectionately known as a community advocate—is a dedicated Perinatal Educator and Community Doula with a deep passion for supporting individuals through their reproductive and parenting journeys. In her early years as a doula, Erica became one of the founding members of the first Black doula collective in Rhode Island, Umoja Nia, and was instrumental in the rise of doulas of color within the community. This marked her introduction to advocacy, and she has remained committed to uplifting and empowering marginalized communities ever since.
Erica’s personal experiences with the lack of resources and information in the perinatal space have been a driving force behind her dedication to this work. Motivated by the desire to ensure others don’t face the same challenges, Erica created a dynamic workshop and support group for pregnant or parenting teens. She has also shared her postpartum journey through a podcast, discussing her experience with her daughter and how it shaped the path she follows today.
In 2023, Erica earned a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership and Change from College Unbound, combining academic knowledge with real-world experience to create meaningful, lasting change. Her workshops and support groups provide evidence-based information, equipping teens to make informed decisions and take charge of their reproductive health and parenting choices.
In addition to her work with teens, Erica also provides childbirth education and newborn care classes at Women & Infants. Whether working in group settings or providing individualized support, Erica’s work is centered on education, empowerment, and advocacy for families at all stages of the perinatal experience.
